9 Best Typeform Alternatives in 2026 (Verified Pricing)

We checked every tool’s live pricing page in July 2026. The 9 best Typeform alternatives compared: real free-plan limits, honest cons, and who each one fits.

9 min read

In February 2026, Typeform cut its free plan from 100 responses a month to 10, and removed the free tier from its pricing page altogether. Plenty of comparison articles haven't caught up — and the ones that have still quote Basic at $25 or $29 when the monthly price is $39. So before writing this comparison, we opened every tool's pricing page and recorded the real numbers. Every price and limit below was verified on July 17, 2026, with the source linked per tool.

One more thing most roundups won't tell you: Formaya (this site) is on the list, at #1. We disclose that openly, and we've scored ourselves with real cons — judge for yourself whether we earned the spot.

All prices and limits checked on each tool's live pricing page, July 2026. *Tally's free plan is "unlimited" subject to a published fair-use policy — 50,000 submissions and 100GB of uploads per month. Several vendors localize pricing by region (Tally and SurveyMonkey both do), so currencies appear as each vendor displayed them to us.

What we're comparing against: Typeform's actual 2026 pricing

As of July 2026: the free plan covers 10 responses a month across your whole account, and no longer appears on the pricing page at all. Basic is $39/mo ($28 billed annually) for 100 responses; Plus $79/mo ($56 annual) for 1,000, which is also where removing Typeform branding unlocks; Business $129/mo ($91 annual) for 10,000, which is where drop-off analytics unlock.

Read that last part again, because it's the number that actually matters: a branded, customer-facing form with conversion data starts at $79–$129 a month — not the $39 headline. That gap, not the product, is what sends people looking for alternatives.

1. Formaya — keeps the conversational format, drops the price entirely

Disclosure: Formaya is our product. Judge the claims by the verified numbers.

Formaya exists for one specific person: someone who likes Typeform's one-question-at-a-time experience and doesn't like paying more every time their forms succeed. It's free with every feature included — logic jumps, webhooks, drop-off analytics, custom theming, payment collection — and a 10,000 responses/month limit, which is the same volume Typeform sells on its Business plan at $129/mo ($91 annual). There are no paid tiers to upsell you into.

We're honest about the trade-offs: there's no one-click Typeform importer yet (you export your data as CSV and rebuild the form, which takes minutes), the template and integration ecosystem is far smaller than Jotform's or Typeform's, and we're the newest product on this list. The full side-by-side is in our Formaya vs Typeform comparison.

  • Pros: genuinely conversational format; every feature free, including drop-off analytics that costs $129/mo at Typeform
  • Cons: no Typeform importer yet; smaller template/integration ecosystem; newer product

Free plan: All features, 10,000 responses/mo, no tiers

2. Tally — the best free document-style form builder

Tally is the most generous free plan in the mainstream: unlimited forms and submissions "within fair usage guidelines," including conditional logic, payment collection, file uploads, and webhooks. The catch is the format — Tally forms are document-style, like filling in a Notion page, not one-question-at-a-time. If that's fine for you, it's excellent. Branding removal, custom domains, partial submissions, team collaboration, and drop-off analytics sit behind Pro, priced at $29/mo in the US and €20/mo in the EU — Tally localizes by region, so check the figure shown for your own location.

  • Pros: extremely generous free plan; fast, pleasant document-style editor
  • Cons: not conversational by default — one-question-at-a-time means inserting a manual page break after every question; branding removal and custom domains need Pro

For the full breakdown, see our honest Tally vs Typeform comparison.

Free plan: Unlimited forms & submissions, incl. logic, payments, webhooks. Fair use: 50,000 submissions/mo, 100GB/mo uploads

Paid from: $29/mo US / €20/mo EU (Pro: branding removal, custom domains, drop-off analytics)

3. Youform — the other conversational free option

Youform is the closest sibling to Formaya on this list: a conversational, Typeform-style builder with a free plan its pricing page describes as unlimited forms and responses, including logic, signatures, and 10MB file uploads. The free plan is single-user and keeps Youform branding; removing it — along with Stripe payments, custom domains, and drop-off analytics — costs $29/mo ($20 annual).

  • Pros: conversational format; generous free tier
  • Cons: branding removal and payments paywalled; single user on free

Free plan: “Unlimited forms & responses” (their claim), single user, Youform branding

Paid from: $29/mo, $20/mo annual (Pro)

4. Fillout — the most generous mainstream free tier

Fillout's free plan gives you 1,000 responses a month with unlimited seats — easily the best free deal for teams. Forms are multi-page rather than strictly one-question-at-a-time, and the tool integrates deeply with Airtable, Notion, and Salesforce. Volume scales through paid tiers: $15/mo for 2,000 responses, $40/mo for 5,000, $75/mo for unlimited — where analytics and custom domains also unlock.

  • Pros: 1,000 free responses/mo with unlimited seats; strong integrations
  • Cons: analytics and custom domain gated to Business at $75/mo; multi-page, not conversational

Free plan: Unlimited forms, 1,000 responses/mo, unlimited seats

Paid from: $15/mo (Starter, 2,000 responses/mo)

5. Jotform — most features and templates, tightest free limits

Jotform is the feature heavyweight: 10,000+ templates, approval workflows, e-signatures, payments, HIPAA options. Its free plan is correspondingly tight — 5 forms and 100 submissions a month — and paid plans start at $39/mo (billed monthly; annual billing is cheaper) for 1,000 submissions. If your needs are complex and your budget real, it's the most complete traditional form platform. It is not conversational.

  • Pros: unmatched breadth of features, widgets, and templates
  • Cons: 5-form cap on free; traditional form UX

Free plan: 5 forms, 100 submissions/mo

Paid from: $39/mo (Bronze, 1,000 submissions/mo; less on annual billing)

6. Google Forms — the free default

Google Forms is free with a Google account and publishes no response caps. For quick internal surveys that pipe straight into Sheets, nothing beats the convenience. The trade-offs are design (minimal control, forms look like Google Forms), limited logic, and no conversational format — respondent experience is where it clearly loses to every dedicated tool here.

  • Pros: free, instant, Sheets-native
  • Cons: minimal design control; no conversational format, limited logic

We compare it head-to-head with Typeform in Typeform vs Google Forms.

Free plan: Free with a Google account; no published response caps

7. Paperform — doc-style forms with strong payments and booking

Paperform blends forms with payments and appointment booking, which makes it a small-business favorite for selling and scheduling through a form. Watch the quotas closely: the free plan allows just 30 submissions a month, and paid tiers use yearly submission quotas (Essentials $24/mo annual = 1,200 submissions/year) that are easy to misread as monthly.

  • Pros: payments and appointments built in
  • Cons: tiny free plan; yearly quotas are easy to misread

Free plan: 30 submissions/mo (5 payment, 5 appointment)

Paid from: $24/mo annual (Essentials, 1,200 submissions/year)

8. SurveyMonkey — research-grade surveys, not conversational forms

SurveyMonkey is a survey research platform more than a form builder: question banks, benchmarks, and analysis depth that none of the form tools match. The free plan collects responses but lets you view only 25 per survey — effectively a demo. Paid plans are per-user with minimum seats on team tiers; check current pricing for your region, as SurveyMonkey localizes its price display.

  • Pros: analysis depth, benchmarks, research features
  • Cons: 25-viewable-responses free cap; per-user pricing gets expensive

Free plan: View up to 25 responses per survey, 10 questions per survey

Paid from: Per-user plans (localized pricing — check their page for your region)

9. Formbricks — the self-hosted option for data-control requirements

Formbricks is the open-source pick: when your organization requires survey data to live on your own infrastructure, self-hosting Formbricks answers that requirement directly. The hosted cloud has a modest free tier (250 responses/mo) with a steep jump to $74/mo for 2,000 — the economics only make sense if the self-hosting or privacy requirement is the point.

  • Pros: open-source and self-hostable; privacy-first architecture
  • Cons: low free cloud cap; steep jump to $74/mo

Free plan: 250 responses/mo (hosted cloud); self-hosting available

Paid from: $74/mo (Pro, 2,000 responses/mo)

Frequently asked questions

Is there a completely free Typeform alternative?

Yes. Formaya includes every feature — logic jumps, webhooks, drop-off analytics, custom theming — free, with a 10,000 responses/month limit. Tally offers unlimited free submissions within its fair-usage guidelines (document-style forms), and Youform advertises unlimited forms and responses on its free plan (conversational format, with branding removal paid).

What is the best free Typeform alternative?

It depends on the format you want. If you want the one-question-at-a-time conversational experience, Formaya or Youform. If you prefer document-style forms, Tally. If you need team seats and volume on a mainstream tool, Fillout’s 1,000 free responses a month with unlimited seats is the strongest.

How many responses does Typeform’s free plan allow?

10 responses per month, across every form in your account, with no rollover. Typeform reduced this from 100 a month in February 2026 and no longer displays the free plan on its pricing page — it is documented in Typeform’s help center. Articles still quoting 100 are citing the pre-February figure.

Which Typeform alternatives keep the one-question-at-a-time format?

Formaya and Youform are built around the conversational, one-question-at-a-time format. Tally, Jotform, Google Forms, and Paperform are document- or page-style builders.

Is there an open-source Typeform alternative?

Formbricks is the best-known open-source, self-hostable option — a fit when your organization requires survey data to stay on its own infrastructure. Its free cloud plan covers 250 responses a month.

Why is Typeform so expensive?

Typeform prices by response volume across tiers: the free plan covers 10 responses a month, Basic ($39/mo, or $28/mo billed annually) covers 100, Plus ($79/mo, $56 annual) covers 1,000, and Business ($129/mo, $91 annual) covers 10,000 — and Business is also where drop-off analytics unlock. Removing Typeform branding requires Plus. So a branded, customer-facing form with conversion data realistically costs $79–$129 a month before volume enters the picture.

Do any alternatives support payments on a free plan?

Yes — Tally includes payment collection on its free plan per its pricing page, and Formaya includes Stripe-based payment collection free. Most other tools gate payments behind paid tiers.
